Mud Island’s Suchak Cooperative Housing Society is once again in the news due to serious allegations. At a press conference held at Shubham Villas, members Mehul Mehta, Pramod Tulsyan, and Reshma Patel raised several questions about the management’s functioning and presented documents.
Members alleged a lack of financial transparency in the society and alleged unfair charges for various items, including water connections. Pramod Tulsyan, owner of Shubham Villa, claimed he was being asked for a “facilitation charge” despite not using the society’s facilities. Citing his commercial documents, he described the action as alleged discrimination.
The biggest question raised was the alleged demand of approximately four lakh rupees per plot, which brought the total amount to approximately two crore rupees. Allegations also surfaced, including the alleged occupation of land worth crores, the storage of records at private residences, and the presence of defaulting members on the committee. Members have demanded an independent investigation into the entire matter and an audit of financial and administrative records. As of the time of writing, there was no official response from the society management.
