This Ganeshotsav celebration at Lalbaug is awash with devotion, displaying a message of humanity and hope. Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, in collaboration with the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, unveiled a 15.59-meter-high giant fiberglass “Organ of Hope” as part of the “Organs of Hope” campaign. This unique sculpture, depicting various organs of the human body, has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the “largest fiberglass sculpture of organs.”
This initiative aims to raise awareness about organ donation and dispel misconceptions among those visiting Lalbaug during Ganeshotsav. Volunteers are interacting with people, providing them with accurate information about organ donation, and encouraging them to discuss this important topic with their families.
According to the hospital’s CEO, Dr. Bipin Chewale, the goal of this campaign is to spread the message of organ donation beyond the hospital walls and into society. Sudhir Salvi described this initiative as a way to give the gift of life to those in need. The “Organ of Hope” in Lalbagh is not just a massive structure, but a symbol of hope, compassion, and the spirit of saving lives.
The campaign also involves students and teachers from ZTCC, Mohan Foundation, Narmada Kidney Foundation, Verma Trust, Donate Life Lunawa Helping Hands, ISCCM – Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, Mumbai City Branch along with Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, SNDT Matunga, Kirti College and Khalsa College.
