Instead of confining mathematics to books and classrooms, Mumbai witnessed a unique example of linking it with sharp thinking, concentration, and confidence. Held at the CIDCO Exhibition and Convention Center in Vashi, over 7,000 students from across the country participated in the 25th UCMAS National Competition, showcasing their math skills.
Students from 28 states and 8 union territories participated in this national event held on September 5th and 6th. The challenge for the students was to solve 200 math problems in just 8 minutes. Using abacus and mental calculation techniques, the students demonstrated their speed and accuracy, along with their focus, memory, visualization, and problem-solving abilities.
The event was attended by Sachin Ahir, Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and senior UCMAS officials. Over 14,000 parents and visitors cheered the children on. The grand awards ceremony honored the best performers. The competition proved that math isn’t just a game of numbers, but also a test of sharpness and confidence.
