With India’s rapid urbanization, industrial expansion, and infrastructure development, it’s crucial to prioritize safety. Experts shared their views on fire safety, emergency preparedness, and modern security technologies at the 9th edition of the Fire & Security India Expo 2026 in Mumbai.
Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State, Government of Maharashtra said that India should not limit itself to adopting foreign technology but should develop indigenous technology and take it to the global market.
“We must not only be a country that buys technology from the world, but develop technology for the world. Manufacture here, produce here, and create jobs,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of State, Mrs. Madhuri Misal, cautioned against limiting fire safety to just fire NOCs and certifications. She said, “We need to move beyond a certificate-based approach and adopt a system of continuous safety, inspection, testing, and maintenance.”
The expo is featuring over 240 exhibiting brands and over 70 speakers. Technologies such as AI, IoT, smart sensors, advanced fire detection systems, surveillance, and integrated command and control systems are being showcased. The event aims to move India from reactive action to proactive fire safety, improved emergency preparedness, and safer infrastructure.
