Uttarakhand was rocked on Tuesday when reports emerged of bomb threats against several government institutions, municipal bodies, religious sites, tourist centers, and police stations. The threats, sent via email to the Haridwar Municipal Corporation and Mussoorie Municipality, also mentioned major religious sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Rishikesh. Meanwhile, police and intelligence agencies have been fully activated after a post threatening to bomb all police stations in Uttarakhand on June 25th went viral on social media platforms. Taking the matter seriously, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, and are gathering technical evidence to identify the person who made the threat.
According to reports, a threatening message was sent via email to the official website of the Haridwar Municipal Corporation. The email threatened to bomb the Haridwar Municipal Corporation, as well as Rishikesh, Kedarnath Jyotirlinga, and Badrinath Dham. The sender identified himself as associated with Khalistan and threatened revenge. Upon receiving the threat, the relevant departments immediately informed the police, which subsequently alerted security agencies. A review of security arrangements at sensitive religious sites and government premises has been initiated. Police are investigating the source and technical details of the email with the help of cyber experts. Meanwhile, a post challenging the Uttarakhand Police went viral on social media, claiming that bombs would explode in all police stations across the state on June 25, 2026. Following the post’s emergence, the police headquarters took the matter seriously and ordered an immediate investigation.
The complaint, filed by Sub-Inspector Ravi Prasad Kavi, posted at the city police station, stated that on June 22, 2026, an unknown individual, using a computer or other electronic device, circulated a threatening post on a social media platform. According to the police, such a post was likely to spread fear and panic among the public, so immediate legal action was initiated. A preliminary investigation has identified the person associated with the post as Jaspreet Singh, son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Ambala City, Haryana. However, the police state that the involvement of others in the case cannot be ruled out, and investigations are ongoing on all aspects.
Social media posts raise concerns, police say don’t pay attention to rumours
During the investigation, police discovered that the threatening post was first shared from an Instagram account. The post read, “I challenge the Uttarakhand Police. There will be an explosion in all the police stations in Uttarakhand on June 25, 2026.” The same post was subsequently shared on other social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, further escalating the situation. Police have registered a case. The Cyber Cell, local police, and other investigating agencies are investigating the post’s original source, IP address, and related digital records.
According to police officials, on the evening of June 22nd, a post threatening to bomb all police stations in Uttarakhand was made through an Intra ID. Taking immediate action, separate cases have been registered at the Mussoorie and Nagar police stations. The social media account from which the post was shared is being verified, and based on the technical investigation, action will be taken against the individual involved soon.
Following the threat, security arrangements have been increased at major religious places, tourist centres, government offices and police establishments in the state.
Police are continuously monitoring the situation and have urged people to immediately report any suspicious activity. Uttarakhand Police have also appealed to the public not to believe unverified or misleading information circulating on social media or share it without verification. Officials say security agencies are fully alert and the matter is being investigated at every level. Once the culprits are identified, strict legal action will be taken against them to effectively curb attempts to create an atmosphere of fear in society through such threats.
