In today’s times, when the threat of adulteration and chemical pesticides in commercial fruits, vegetables, and foods is constantly increasing, the search for pure and natural food is becoming a priority for everyone. Recognizing this concern, Gujarati farmer-entrepreneur Shailesh Jariya has launched his organic brand, “Gir Veggies,” in Mumbai.
Indian MMA fighter and actor Sangram Singh, who has been appointed as the brand’s ambassador, was also present at the special event. During a press conference in Mumbai, the initiative was presented as not just a business initiative but a public health responsibility.
The idea was born out of concerns about adulterated food.
Shailesh Jaria explained that serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, and heart attacks are prevalent today, with adulterated and chemical-laden foods playing a significant role. He said, “Whenever I bought fruits and vegetables from the market, I would wonder, ‘Are we buying food or slow-acting poison?’ This thought inspired me to promote organic farming.” This thought later became the foundation of the ‘Gir Veggies’ brand, which aims to provide pure and natural food to the public. This organic farming is carried out at the ‘Shaileshbhai Ni Vaadi’ farm located in Amrapur Gir village in Junagadh district, Gujarat. The farming here is done using completely natural methods. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that the produce reaches the consumer’s doorstep directly from the farm, maintaining its freshness and quality.
Indian MMA fighter Sangram Singh openly praised the initiative, saying that in today’s fast-paced urban life, people are moving away from natural food.
He recalled, “As a child, we used to eat fruits straight from the trees. Now, that experience is almost gone in cities. When Shailesh Jaria told me about his organic farm and shared the idea of delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the farm to homes, I found the initiative very positive.” Sangram Singh also said that he had tasted the fruits from the farm himself and found them to be of excellent quality.
“Gir Veggies” will initially deliver organic fruits and vegetables twice a week to the Kandivali, Borivali, Dahisar, and Malad areas of Mumbai. The company’s goal is not just trade, but to build a direct connection between farmers and consumers, ensuring access to pure, fresh, and chemical-free food products.
