On the special occasion of International Women’s Day, Kimberly-Clark India and UNICEF India announced a landmark strategic partnership to empower women and adolescent girls’ health in India. The initiative aims to strengthen menstrual hygiene and maternal health services in nine key states—Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Gujarat.

This joint campaign aims to directly connect approximately 2.88 million adolescent girls, women, and newborns to essential health services and benefits. Additionally, an additional 2.87 million people in the community will be raised through education and behavior change programs. This initiative is not limited to providing health services, but also aims to raise awareness among women about their health and dispel social stigma.

Rahul Asthana, Managing Director, Kimberly-Clark India, expressed his delight at this partnership, saying that health and dignity should be a right, not a privilege. He expressed confidence that UNICEF’s on-the-ground experience and his company’s “Care Better” approach will positively impact the lives of millions of families.

Meanwhile, UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey stated that this collaboration is a vital step towards realizing India’s vision of a “developed India.” She emphasized that an adolescent’s health, a mother’s well-being, and a child’s early development are deeply interconnected. This program will help make health systems at the national and state levels more adolescent-friendly, leading to a healthy and prosperous future generation.
